January Jones

Loving January Jones. She always looks effortlessly chic, but with a touch of bad ass. I also love that she's from South Dakota.

Let Them Eat Cake

To cure my boredom last Friday I made a cinnamon coffee bundt cake. Needless to say, it was well received. If you know my family at all, you know we picked at it for a few days and then all wondered... "who ate all the cake?"
I wanted to share this recipe to inspire your next girl's day treat. Add some fresh fruit, a delicious coffee drink, head out to the deck on a beautiful summer day and voila...

Cinnamon Coffee Bundt Cake
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1 instant vanilla pudding mix (small)
4 eggs
3/4 c. oil
3/4 c. water
1 tsp. butter flavoring (extract)
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Put all ingredients into a mixing bowl. Beat at high speed for 8 minutes. Make filling while beating.

1/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Grease bundt pan. Alternate layers of cake batter and cinnamon mixture, ending with batter on top (3 layers batter, 2 layers sugar). Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Remove, leave in pan for 8 minutes to cool.

1 c. powdered sugar
3 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. butter extract

Pour glaze over cake when it's slightly warm.
*I had to add more powdered sugar to make my glaze thicker. If it's running right off the cake, then you need more sugar.

I do, do you?

Looking to add a touch of girly-girl and sparkle to your outfit? Here is your answer. I've been debating over which will be my first purchase for a long time. I really love the shoe clips (last photo) that also moonlight as pins and hair barrettes. How perfect is that?

Feeling skeptical and think I'm a little crazy? I don't blame you. But I come with proof that these pants are versatile and essential to your summer wardrobe.

Pretty Prattle

Meet my new necklace. She still needs a name, but it will come to me with time.ha.

I have been looking for a statement piece for a while and I had a gut feeling that Anthropolgie would be the store that delivered. Their jewelry is always brilliant and never lets me down. This might even replace a scarf every once and while.:Scary:.

Dress for Success

Finals are creeping up and I'm sure you are all feeling the stress. You should know that nothing bums me out more than seeing a campus full of girls who look like they're carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders wearing boring, frumpy dump outfits. Getting through finals week is totally mental and I'm a big believer in dressing for success. Feeling good about yourself the day of an exam is important and will help you feel that "yes, I can do this". My go-to exam outfit is a little something like this...

I'm really into scarves being tightly wrapped right now, especially when they're a great color like the one above. I always wear sweaters to exams, because the rooms are always way too cold. Throw on your good jeans, a pair of stellar shoes, grab your coffee and go! It doesn't have to be fancy, it just needs to make you feel great.

Good luck to everyone on their final exams. We're almost there!
